Hector Mercado Gonzalez, 60, of Hilo died July 21 at home. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he was a floral designer at Floral Mart. Private services. Dennis Julian Kaulia, 57, of Kalaoa, Kona, and Nanakuli, Oahu, died July 17 in Kona. Born in Honolulu, he was owner and driver of Kaulia Trucking Co., a bird and chicken farmer, auto mechanic, competitive surfer, fisherman and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 6) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Kalani Street in Kailua-Kona. Oahu visitation noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 85-574 Old Plantation Road in Waianae. Convoy to follow to Makua Beach, then to Nanakuli Homestead Cemetery for burial. Casual attire. David “Dave” E. Raabe, 69, of Hilo, died July 20 in Tomah, Wis. Born in Sparta, Wis., he was a retired teacher, softball coach for the Hilo Comets and University of Hawaii at Hilo, weighmaster for the Hilo Trollers and course marshal for the Senior PGA Tour MasterCard Tournament and Skins Game. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Doris Raabe; daughter, Trintje (Jeff) Hironaga; two grandchildren.

Juel Marie Roark, 83, of Kailua-Kona died July 28 at home. Born in Atascadero, Calif., she was a retired customer service representative for Southern California Gas Co., member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity and a Calabash Cousin. Services held. Survived by daughter, Linda Pippin of Santa Cruz, Calif.; son, Mark (Deby) Pippin of Encinitas, Calif.; sister, Peggy Dodge of Mountain Home, Calif.; one grandson and two great-grandchildren. Abraham Silva, 86, of Hilo, formerly of Honokaa, died July 21 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Holualoa, he was a retired mason, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 6) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Funeral mass at 10. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 in Hilo. Casual attire.
